About Rachael
I love providing midwifery care to the local families and surrounding communities in west Auckland.
Hi I'm Rachael, I moved to NZ from London in 2002 with my Kiwi husband, we live in Kumeu and have three gorgeous sons. The uniqueness of midwifery care in New Zealand means that I am able to follow my passion by providing midwifery care throughout the childbirth experience; antenatal, labour and birth and postnatally. As part of my practice I focus on individual needs and support each woman to choose the best care for her and her baby whether this is drug free, epidural or waterbirth promoting wellness to women and therefore families.
I realise that everyone is different, bringing different values, customs and beliefs. Acknowledging this and planning care to encompass these differences is also my passion, making each woman’s experience individual.
I work in partnership with Linda Sowerby, in which we share a caseload of pregnant mums and alternate being on call for births throughout the week and weekends.
When I am not providing midwifery care, I enjoy trail running, Dragon Boat racing, going to the gym and spending time with my family.
About Linda
Congratulations on your pregnancy! I am looking forward to sharing this journey with you.
Midwifery to me, is the embodiment of what it means to be human; Science, spirit and service. As your midwife I will walk alongside you during this transformative time, empowering you with evidence-based information and education, rich discussion and collaborative care when required. It is my greatest wish that all women come to see themselves as I see them: our greatest source of life, love, wisdom and strength.
I work in partnership with Rachael Hastings where we alternate being on call for births throughout the week and weekends. This supports a good work/life balance and means that our families and our clients get the best of us, always. Together we seek to protect and promote the holistic wellbeing of you and your family during this extraordinary time.
About Nicola
Congratulations on your pregnancy! What an exciting journey you are on. I would love to help support you along this journey into a smooth transition into parenthood.
I am an experienced midwife and have worked in a variety of roles within midwifery, but by far the most rewarding of these has been working as a lead maternity carer (LMC) midwife. It is a privilege to be able to witness the journey of a new life coming into the world. I hope to ensure each women I care for feels respected, informed and supported. This is a unique time in your life. I know that as well as exciting, there are times when it can also be daunting. I want to make sure you have all the information and advice you need to make this experience the best possible.
About Lis
I AM A WARM, HUMOROUS, MATURE WOMAN WHO ADORES HER CALLING AS A MIDWIFE. I HAVE WORKED AS A DOULA, CHILDBIRTH EDUCATOR, NATUROPATH AND NANNY PRIOR TO BECOMING A MIDWIFE WHICH MEANS I HAVE AN ARRAY OF SKILLS TO SHARE WITH YOU AND YOURS.
I believe in POSITIVE births, and I like to focus on the individual needs of every woman to ensure she has the best care for her AND her baby. I provide safe, sensible, realistic care including hospital birth, waterbirth, homebirth, high risk and everything in between!
I choose to support women to birth at Waitakere hospital only , which has good midwifery support, high level of expertise and specialist staff as well as low rates of intervention.
I will work with you to have an empowering experience that will get your newborn family off to a flying start.
NB: I do not birth at Auckland Hosp – If you have birthed with me before I will always accept you even if I read as fully booked.
About Brianna
Congratulations on your pregnancy. This is such an exciting time ahead for you and your whanau. I look forward to establishing a partnership with you as you navigate this journey.
Hi, I'm Bri, a registered midwife based in West Auckland. I work closely with my practice partner, Mila McCambridge, and am part of the amazing team at West Auckland Midwives.
I genuinely believe that birth is an incredible and unique physiological life experience. I feel privileged to accompany you on your journey to parenthood, empowering and promoting your childbirth continuum. I offer continuity of care and support throughout pregnancy, labour, birth, and the postnatal period, with the wellbeing and safety of you and your baby at the heart of my care. I support women giving birth at Waitakere Hospital.
I work with Mila McCambridge, and together, we provide close support to our small caseloads of pregnant wahine, taking turns being on call for births during both weekdays and weekends.
When I'm not providing midwifery care, you'll find me at the beach, deeply involved in lifeguarding, spending time with my family, or exploring our beautiful country.
About Marika
I HAVE A HOLISTIC APPROACH TO HEALTH AND A DEEP TRUST IN THE WISDOM AND INTELLIGENCE WITHIN THE BODY. YOGA, MEDITATION AND HERBAL MEDICINE ARE THE FOUNDATIONS OF MY OWN WELL-BEING AND THIS I WILL INTEGRATE INTO MY MIDWIFERY PRACTICE.
I see my role as a midwife to promote and facilitate the physiological processes of pregnancy and birth, but also to be aware that unexpected things happen during this time and in case of any deviation from normal, I work in partnership with an obstetrician and other health practitioners for a safe birthing outcome.
I value continuity of care and family-centredness and I am happy to arrange antenatal appointments so that partners are included. I’m grateful to work as part of a highly experienced and supportive team of midwives at West Auckland Midwives.
