About Rachael

I love providing midwifery care to the local families and surrounding communities in west Auckland.

Hi I'm Rachael, I moved to NZ from London in 2002 with my Kiwi husband, we live in Kumeu and have three gorgeous sons. The uniqueness of midwifery care in New Zealand means that I am able to follow my passion by providing midwifery care throughout the childbirth experience; antenatal, labour and birth.  As part of my practice I focus on individual needs and support each woman to choose the best care for her and her baby whether this is drug free, epidural, waterbirth and promote wellness to women and therefore families.

I realise that everyone is different, bringing different values, customs and beliefs. Acknowledging this and planning care to encompass these differences is also our passion, making each woman’s experience individual.

I work in partnership with Geraldine Zulch, in which we share a caseload of pregnant  mums and alternate being on call for births throughout the week and weekends.

When I am not providing midwifery care, I enjoy trail running, training for ultra marathons, time on my SUP and supporting my boys in their sports.

About Geraldine

Midwifery is unique in New Zealand and I’m very fortunate to be given the opportunity to follow my passion and support each woman throughout this journey of antenatal, labour, birth and postnatal care. I provide comprehensive continuity of midwifery care which is based on informed choice and information sharing. I'm happy to meet with you to discuss this. 🙂

CONGRATULATIONS on your pregnancy. I would be delighted to walk alongside you as your midwife during this very special time. I have children of my own and it was these childbirth experiences that inspired me to join the maternity profession. I believe that childbirth is a natural life event that should ultimately result in empowerment for every woman.

I work in partnership with Rachael Hastings, in which we share a caseload of pregnant  mums and alternate being on call for births throughout the week and weekends.

About Nicola

Congratulations on your pregnancy! What an exciting journey you are on. I would love to help support you along this journey into a smooth transition into parenthood.

I am an experienced midwife and have worked in a variety of roles within midwifery, but by far the most rewarding of these has been working as a lead maternity carer (LMC) midwife. It is a privilege to be able to witness the journey of a new life coming into the world. I hope to ensure each women I care for feels respected, informed and supported. This is a unique time in your life. I know that as well as exciting, there are times when it can also be daunting. I want to make sure you have all the information and advice you need to make this experience the best possible.

About Linda

I am a registered midwife caring for birthing people and their families in the West Auckland Region. Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Midwifery to me, is the embodiment of what it means to be human; Science, spirit and service. Our science is in our thinking, our spirit is in our heart and with our hands we serve.

As your midwife I will walk alongside you during this transformative time, empowering you with evidence-based information and education, rich discussion and collaborative care when required.

I take a small caseload of women each month, so that I can maintain a good work/life balance.  This ensures that both my clients and my family, get the best of me, always.

About Marika

I have a holistic approach to health and a deep trust in the wisdom and intelligence within the body. Yoga, meditation and herbal medicine are the foundations of my own well-being and this I will integrate into my midwifery practice.

I see my role as a midwife to promote and facilitate the physiological processes of pregnancy and birth, but also to be aware that unexpected things happen during this time and in case of any deviation from normal, I work in partnership with an obstetrician and other health practitioners for a safe birthing outcome.

I value continuity of care and family-centredness and I am happy to arrange antenatal appointments so that partners are included. My practice partner is lovely Linda Sowerby and I’m grateful to work as part of a highly experienced and supportive team of midwives at West Auckland Midwives.

About Bunny

I am currently not providing LMC care.

I have been providing Lead Maternity Carer (LMC) services in West Auckland since 1996 and know it is a privilege to walk alongside you while you make precious and unique birth memories.

I am passionate about pregnancy and birth and aim to provide you with the information necessary to make informed decisions.

I will organise all aspects of your antenatal, labour & birth, and postnatal care.

With many years of experience, I have trained to recognise when events deviate from normal. I aim to provide you with the safest birth for you and your baby, have no hesitation in referring you to Specialist Obstetric care if it becomes necessary.

I am married and have three grown children and three grandchildren.

I have a wicked sense of humour and enjoy a good laugh.

I am also a little bit of a crazy fitness junkie, enjoying half marathons both on the road and through the bush! I also love getting a little dirty with Tough Guy/Gal events, have competed in three Spartan events in Australia and am very keen on running stairs and CrossFit.

Unfortunately we are not able to offer you ‘interview’ appointments.
